Superintendent
Position Overview:
The Superintendent is the on-site leader responsible for managing daily field operations, ensuring that all aspects of construction are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents. This role oversees subcontractor coordination, site logistics, quality control, and schedule adherence, while serving as the primary field contact for the project team.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Leadership
- Direct and supervise all subcontractors and field personnel on-site
- Maintain site safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards
- Conduct daily site walks to monitor safety, cleanliness, and work quality
Schedule Management
- Develop, update, and manage the project’s 3-week and 4-week look-ahead schedules
- Coordinate construction sequencing and verify that activities align with the master schedule
- Track actual start, stop, and completion dates for each activity
Quality Control
- Review and enforce installation according to drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Manage punch list items and oversee timely resolution by subcontractors
- Conduct pre-installation meetings and ongoing inspections
Communication & Coordination
- Lead daily huddles and weekly subcontractor coordination meetings
- Serve as primary on-site liaison with the architect, owner’s rep, and inspectors
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment staging, and site logistics
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily logs, manpower reports, delivery tags, and inspection notes
- Ensure all subcontractors sign in and maintain up-to-date safety documentation
- Collaborate with Project Engineer to maintain as-built drawings and project documentation
Closeout Support
- Ensure completion of training, O&M manuals, and turnover documents
- Monitor final inspections and work completion in accordance with the contract
- Drive project to substantial and final completion
Required Skills & Traits:
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to field management
- Committed to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe job site
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Lead Foreman
- OSHA 30 certification and current CPR/First Aid training
- Proficiency with Procore, MS Office, and scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project or Primavera)
- Experience with both public and private sector projects
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk, climb, and navigate active construction sites
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and loud noise levels
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform basic physical construction-related tasks when needed
Pay Scale:
- $80,000-$120,000/yr DOE
