Project Engineer

Position Overview:
The Project Engineer (Office Engineer) plays a critical role in supporting field operations by ensuring all administrative and technical project requirements are met. This position bridges the gap between the field team, subcontractors, and project management to drive project success through coordination, communication, and timely execution.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination

  • Maintain and distribute project submittal logs, RFIs, inspection schedules, and site documentation
  • Coordinate submittals and clearances with subcontractors before they arrive on-site
  • Support delivery tracking, sample coordination, and material verification
  • Help manage procurement for self-perform scopes and assist with change order documentation

Site Documentation

  • Perform daily logs, photo documentation, and manpower tracking
  • Monitor weather, equipment, deliveries, and inspection findings
  • Track actual schedule activity dates and assist with weekly updates

Field Support

  • Conduct regular site walks, promote safety awareness, and assist with minor labor tasks when needed (site cleanup, fencing, BMPs)
  • Coordinate deliveries, verify site safety signage, and help with logistics planning

Reporting & Meetings

  • Prepare weekly reports, submittal hotlists, and attend project meetings
  • Take meeting minutes and track open action items
  • Maintain as-built records and oversee closeout documentation

Project Lifecycle Support

  • Assist with project startup including directory setup, drawing uploads, and plan distribution
  • Support project closeout by collecting warranties, coordinating training, and compiling final turnover documents

Required Skills & Traits:

  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Proactive, collaborative, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity and commitment to safety
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Procore, MS Office, and Dropbox

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of construction experience in a support or engineering role
  • Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Ability to adapt to evolving site conditions and project demands

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk active construction sites, climb ladders and stairs, and navigate uneven surfaces
  • May be exposed to loud noises, heights, weather, and mechanical systems
  • Regular use of hands and physical mobility required for field and office tasks

Pay Scale:

  • $25-$40/hr DOE
